Frequently Asked Questions

3D scanning uses professional instruments to convert physical objects in reality into accurate three-dimensional digital models. The scanner captures the shape, size, and texture information of the object's surface, generating digital files that can be used for 3D printing, reverse engineering, product development, heritage preservation, or AR/Web display, saving the time of manual modelling. Generally suitable for objects larger than 5cm³.

  • Product Shells
  • Sculptures / Models
  • Portraits / Figurines
  • Industrial Parts
  • Cultural Relics / Artworks
  • Jewellery
  • Architectural Components

Generally, sizes range from small parts to large installations, and different precision options can be provided based on usage.

Yes. Our on-site scanning service allows our team to visit your location for large or fixed installations.
• Large Installations
• Difficult-to-move Objects
• Exhibits
• On-site Engineering Components
• Portrait Scanning
On-site services will be quoted based on location, time, and project complexity.
Yes, but such objects will increase scanning difficulty. Black glossy materials, transparent glass/plastic parts, and metal mirrors generally require the use of professional scanning powder for surface treatment to enhance scanning results. The powder can be cleaned off and will not permanently affect the object.

Yes. Digital restoration can be performed as needed, including surface and hole filling, left-right symmetry restoration, missing part reconstruction, and 2D reference reconstruction, particularly suitable for the restoration of antiques, sculptures, figurines, and historical objects.

Basic scanning usually includes basic cleanup such as:
• Mesh cleaning
• Noise removal
• Basic hole filling
If high-precision model repair, engineering correction, surface reconstruction or STEP file creation is required, a separate quotation will be provided based on the scope of work.

The basic delivery formats are STL (for 3D printing), OBJ (with colour/texture), or GLB/USDZ (for AR/Web display). If STEP format is required, reverse engineering services must be added. If specific software or workflows are needed, AIO Studio can also output the corresponding formats.

Yes. After scanning, it can be directly used for 3D printing, and we also provide one-stop services for model correction, hole filling optimisation, structural processing, 3D printing, and colouring. If used for CNC machining or mould making, it is recommended to add reverse engineering services to ensure project accuracy.

The general industrial-grade scanning accuracy is about ±0.1mm to ±0.2mm; jewellery-grade high-precision scanning solutions can achieve even higher accuracy. Actual accuracy depends on the size of the object and the scanning solution. If there are engineering or mould making purposes, it is recommended to submit the object details to the AIO Studio technical team for evaluation.

Typical Lead Time:
• Basic Scanning: 3–7 working days
• High Precision / Large-scale Projects: 7–14 working days
• Reverse Engineering / STEP: Subject to complexity

Expedited service is available for urgent orders.

Customers can provide the following information for a quick quote:
• Object photos (multiple angles)
• Size information
• Quantity
• Purpose (display/printing/engineering/mould making, etc.)
• Whether colour scanning is required
• Whether post-processing is required
The more complete the information, the more accurate the quote will be.
WhatsApp inquiries usually receive preliminary assessments faster.

Charges depend on the type of scanning: regular 3D scanning starts from $600/item, including mesh cleaning, basic hole filling, and noise reduction; full-colour 3D scanning starts from $800/item, which also includes texture synthesis. Jewellery-grade high-precision scanning and reverse engineering services are quoted separately, and we welcome object photos and size inquiries.
